Kundalini yoga; often described as the Yoga of Awareness. It can contribute to deep changes over time, yet immediately impact you both powerfully and subtly. It helps to relieve stress, to promote both physical and emotional healing and ultimately to connect with a profound and transforming spiritual energy. Kundalini yoga was long before a secret practice, but in 1969 Yogi Bhajan began to teach it openly throughout the world, as he knew what powerful tool Kundalini yoga is for the challenges of our time.
It is practised through a combination of asanas (yoga positions), mudras (hand gestures), bandhas (body locks), breathing, and mantras (sounds). It consists of different kriyas (sets of exercises) and meditations that are for specific conditions and specific results. The periods of relaxation also play an important part in a yoga session.
The structure of a session is: Tuning in, Warming up, Kriya (set of exercises), Relaxation, Meditation (before or after Relaxation), Tuning out.
Anyone can practise it and no experience is required.
